What is this? I'm a late bloomer. Although I've been creative all my life, I began to find my voice as a painter in 2012. Paint is a visual conversation with myself, my instinctual inner voice. I use many unconventional tools, but my primary technique is down-and-dirty finger painting. The mess is playful, engaging my whole body in the act.

Why square? Square canvases were an important point of discovery, as I don't paint with a particular orientation in mind. There is no plan before the first stroke, and there is no up, down or sideways once the piece is complete. Months or years later, I still turn the paintings for new perspectives and insight as my body of work grows.

Mom & Dad? As a child of immigrant parents, family conversations have always been a mix of elementary-level Korean combined with English slang, TV catchphrases and lots of animated gestures. But art is a language that needs no translation. The casual comments my father (an eloquent public speaker in his native Korean tongue) and my mother (a well-read literary mind and storyteller) make about my work synch up with my own sense. They get it. They get me. The paintings have become a conversation among us, my parents' words about them far more eloquent than my own.
